Deer Camp · getdeercamp.com · effective August 4, 2026
Deer Camp is made by a hunter for hunters. The short version: your ground,
your pins, and your photos are yours. We don't sell data, we don't run ads,
and nothing about your property or your club is public.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and a securely hashed password.
- Club content: the markers, shapes, photos, notes, and sit logs
you and your club members create. Visible only to members of your camp.
- Location: the map coordinates you tap, which is how your camp,
your stands and your property boundary get saved. Your device's own
GPS position is different: when you turn on the locate button it is
used on your phone to draw the blue dot and nothing else. It is never
sent to us and we never store it. There is no background tracking.
- Property boundaries: when you drop a pin, we look up the parcel
from county records via a licensed data provider.
- Weather: conditions are fetched for the area of the map you're
viewing.
What we don't do
- No selling or sharing of personal data with data brokers or advertisers.
- No public feeds. Your club's map is visible only to people with your
invite code who you've allowed in.
- No background location tracking.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run the service. They receive only
what is needed to answer the request in front of them.
- Hosting and networking.
- Map imagery, elevation and topographic tiles, which receive the
map coordinates you are looking at.
- Parcel boundary records, which receive the point you dropped
when you ask for a property line.
- Weather, which receives the area of the map you are viewing or
the location of the stand you are sitting.
- An AI provider (Anthropic). This one deserves saying plainly,
because it is the only place your own content leaves our servers. When
you hand a trail camera picture to a camera, that picture is sent to
Anthropic to be read for what animal is in it, how many, and the time
stamped on the photo. When you use Ask about your ground, the question
goes with a summary of your camp: your markers and notes, your sit
history, your habitat plan and your camera history. It is used to
answer you and nothing else. It is not used to train anybody's model,
it is not sold, and it is not shared with anyone else.
- Payments (Stripe), if you subscribe. Stripe receives your email
and takes your card details directly. We never see or store a card
number; all we keep is whether your subscription is active.
Your data, your call
You can delete any marker, shape, or photo you created at any time.
You can delete your whole account from inside the app: open the Camp tab
and choose Delete account. It asks for your password and a typed
confirmation, and it tells you first whether it is deleting only you or the
whole camp, which happens when you are the last member left in it. What you
marked on a shared camp's map stays on it for the members still hunting, and
simply stops carrying your name.
If you would rather we did it, email us and we will take care of it
promptly.
